The Southern Illinois University grew rapidly during and after the 1950s. It has its main campus at a place called Carbondale though another large facility is also located at Edwardsville. Its faculties include agriculture, applied sciences, business, communication, fine arts, etc. There are four other universities under the control of the teachers college Board: These are – Northern Illinois University, Western Illinois University, Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State Normal University. The Chicago Teachers College is municipally controlled.
